Top up insurance may be taken out for an additional premium and the price of this will be quoted to you go through the booking process. The first step of the car hire booking process in Kista is to select the location you want to pick up the car. Remember to take your driving licence with you along with your credit card. In fact all named drivers should take valid driving licences with them, as the local office will require to see licences for all named drivers.

Is new Castellon Airport still viable?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

With building works on Murcia’s new Castello Airport in Corvera still going on and early 2012 now being mooted as the current completion date for phase I of the project, it comes as no surprise that the existing Murcia San Javier Airport has stepped into the breach and opened an additional runway.

The new runway at Murcia Airport will enable passenger traffic to be increased by over 80% during the high season and with Ryanair already operating from there I am seriously wondering whether the Corvera Airport will ever be completed or used.

Many people brought properties in Castellon because of the promise of this new airport, but they must have given up all hope as every year planning and finance problems occur and the completion date gets put back again.

The new airport will have an initial operating capacity of 1.5 million passengers, going up to 5.2 million in 2015. The second phase of construction will increase its capability to 8.7 million.

With the current economic climate I would question the viability of Castello Airport and ask where are all these passengers are going to come from . . .

If you are travelling to or from Alicante Airport we have provided details of the new terminal building with information on where to find the buses and taxis, car hire desks and general passenger information.

We have learnt from experience that with Spanish Airports there is always ongoing change and movement for a few weeks when a large new facility like an extra terminal is introduced. So we will write a fuller guide when the new terminal has been operating for a couple of months and things have settled down.

Goodbye Snow, Hello Calima

Monday, March 21st, 2011

After the snow, cold front and rain we had on the island in the 1st part of the month, we now have a calima, (Saharan Air Layer).

There is no weather warning from AEMET, which is probably because it’s not as intense as past calimas. Stay informed of the weather via live weather reports in Gran Canaria.
