Mallorca Island , also known as the Mediterranean Lady has to offer anything a visitor might dream of. Tourism at Mallorca started to develop already in the 1920s, and until the Spanish Civil War it were mainly intellectuals and artists who were attracted by this island.

Mallorca 's wonderful climate, beautiful landscapes as well as its cosmopolitan ambience make it a privileged holiday resort, with a cultural offer comparable to the one of many European capitals. The Auditiorio de Palma, for instance, ranks among Europe 's top concert halls. At Mallorca , you will find relaxation, inspiration, culture and entertainment.

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands , located in the Mediterranean off the east coast of the Spanish mainland. More than six million visitors year flock to Mallorca - from members of the international jet set and royal houses of Europe to hordes of budget-conscious British and German package holidaymakers. The island is about 100 kilometres from east to west and about 75 kilometres from north to south.

It's an island of great contrasts with dramatic rugged mountains in the north west , a rural heartland virtually untouched by tourism, hidden coves favoured by owners of multi-million pound yachts and the international playgrounds of La Palma and Megaluf.

It's beauty has seduced the likes of Frederic Chopin, Robert Graves, King Juan Carlos of Spain , Michael Douglas and Claudia Schiffer. Royals and celebrities holiday here and often make the island their home.

The people of the Mediterranean know how to take life slowly - They still have time to sit in the shade and chat, to take siestas rather than rushing back to work, to enjoy the outdoors whether it is the mountain or the sea.
Mallorca or Majorca ? Are they the same place or not? Yes and no. Majorca , with a hard 'j', is a place invented by foreigners, where the sun always shines and the beer flows. Mallorca , the local name for the island, is quite different and far more complex. We encourage you to experience both in the spectacular island of Mallorca

Mallorca has prehistoric caves, ultra modern aqua parks, romantic train rides through the olive and lemon groves, every kind of sport imaginable.these are just a few of the things to keep you occupied during the daytime if you tire of Mallorca 's beach life.

For golf enthusiasts, there are no less than 12 courses on the island. Shopaholics will love the trendy boutiques and exclusive shops of La Palma and the traditional street markets of the inland towns and villages.

Hikers, horse riders, artists and nature lovers will want to explore the Tramuntana mountain region in the northwest. One of the most popular excursions is a visit to the extraordinary Cuevas de Drach ( Dragon Caves ) on the east coast. The limestone caves are full of thousands of stalagmites, stalactites and weird rock formations created out of water dripping for thousands of years.

The underground cavern opens out into a natural amphitheatre which can accommodate 300 people. The highlight of many people's visit to Mallorca is the moment when boats bearing an organist and violinists drift onto the lake to perform classical music composed especially for these caves. End your visit by exiting the caves in a rowboat.

Palma creates magic, more than ever in the early hours of the day. History and modernity melt together with the deep blue of Mediterranean sea . Approximately 320.000 people live here, about half of the island's total population. The city's cultural offer is impressive, specially if you take its size into consideration.

Capital of Majorca , Palma offers its visitors many interesting sites. Be sure to visit the gothic cathedral, "la Seo", build by Majorca 's king Jaume the 1st in the 13th century. Next to it see also the Almudaina, the residence of the moorish kings which recently served as a guest house for president Bill Clinton and the emperor of Japan .

Enjoy from there a walk in the narrow alleys of the old town or a refreshment in one of the many terrasses bordering the avenues. To savour a great view of the city and its bay, you can climb on foot or go by car to the Bellver castle. On the other side of the airport, you can enjoy the beach in Ca'n Pastilla and S'Arenal which also offer all the attractions of a modern tourist resort.

This area offers great diversity from the almond fields near Andratx, which resemble snow in February, to the beach and holiday atmosphere of Paguera in the summer. Enjoy a view of the island of La Dragonera from the village of Sant Elm or climb up to the ruins of the Sa Trappa monestary, 400m above sea level.

Andratx is a large village, full of charm and holds a colourful market on each Wednesday. Puerto de Andratx is an inviting little fishing port lodged in a small and narrow bay from which you can reach the Cabo de Sa Mola and see the cliffs sharply falling into the sea.

East of Palma, after the Bellver Castle , is one of the islands most developed tourism areas with plenty of small beaches and entertainment.

The king of Spain , Juan Carlos has his summer residence near Cala Mayor and the port of Portals Nous is still the most select of the Balearics.

You'll find beaches in the small coves of Sant Augusti, Ca's Catala and transparent waters in Ses Illetes.

Palma Nova and Magalluf are the main tourist resorts including Santa Ponsa on the East, where the sunsets are memorable. Portals Vells at the tip of the small peninsula is a more quiet spot offering some lovely views and walks. Inland, be sure to visit Calvia, a beautiful exemple of an authentic Majorquin village.
